2016 Oktoberfest Season - Travel Team

The travel team has had a fantastic 2016 Oktoberfest Season, still in progress at press time.

We will have played 16 events over 6 weekends, with performances in Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia, Kentucky, and all over Ohio. Some of the bigger festivals this year include the Minster Oktoberfest, the Dayton Art Institute Oktoberfest, and the Covington Oktoberfest. It has been a lot of fun going through the season, and we do hope you'll bring us back in 2017!

Route 161 Paddy Wanderers

The travel team was invited to play a special St Patrick's Eve dinner, and we played two hours of Irish music, starting with many of the traditional favorites, such as Rock Road to Dublin, Wild Rover and so forth. As the evening progressed we moved into Irish rock, such as the DropKick Murphys, the Pogues, and others. It was a lovely time and well-received.

And the Columbus team is doing an Irish show today for Seniors in Mount Vernon. Happy St. Paddy!

Polka and Klezmer at Bossy Grrls

Our busiest season is the fall, so to keep in fighting trim the travel team played at Bossy Grrls on High Street last night (1/24/16). To our pleasant surprise, a pair of enthusiastic polka dancers came and danced to pretty much everything we played, thanks again!

Travel Team - Funeral Gathering

We recently had the honor of playing a concert for an 89 year-old near Chardon, OH who requested a polka band and a dance floor for his memorial service. In going with an older tradition, we wore our normal Oktoberfest celebration uniforms, with black armbands to honor our host. In addition to the many popular polkas that we already played, we also added some county numbers specifically for this event, such as 'Hello Walls', 'Waltz Across Texas', and 'Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain'.

Travel Team at Cobo Hall - Detroit

On November 10th, the Travel Team went up to Detroit for a private show at Cobo hall. We were set up such by a window overlooking the river, watching the people mover go by all night, adjacent to the red wings game. The conference we played for was international, so we did as much foreign language material as we had handy. We only have one song in Japanese, which is a pity because I can sing at least 30 as karaoke, so I'd better get on that. We also need a few more numbers in Spanish as well.

Travel Team at Kennesaw, GA Owl-O-Ween

Thanks again to Ariel and the fine folks at KSU for bringing Vince, Jason and Dan out to Owl-O-Ween to play at the Oktoberfest Area and participate in the keg tap and host various party games. Jason judged a yodelling contest, we held a chicken dance off, and we even saw an impromptu Daddy-Daughter dance happen. Perfect weather too! Hope to see you next year.

Travel Trio at Morgantown WV Oktoberfest

We appear as the soundtrack in this video from the 0:55 Mark until you hear Freebird.

Dover and Heath Oktoberfests

Thanks again to the Heath Oktoberfest for bringing out the whole band on Saturday 9/26. There were six food trucks and a beer tent, so that's a pretty big fest!

Thanks to Dover Harley Davidson for having Vince and I on Saturday 10/3 to give them a little Oktoberfest. There were a few folks who came for the band, had a nice chat with a German couple who didn't ride motorcycles, but wanted to hear the music, so I threw in extra numbers in German for them.
